Dominick J. Angiolillo, M.D., Ph.D., is a notable and influential leader in cardiology who has dedicated his career to healthy hearts and the science that sustains them.

Angiolillo is a University of Florida Distinguished Professor of Medicine, chief of the division of cardiology at the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville and the medical director of the UF Health Cardiovascular Center.

Board-certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, he joined the UF College of Medicine – Jacksonville in 2004 and was named a tenured professor not long after. He was selected as a University of Florida Research Professorship recipient in 2017, one of only five UF COMJ staff who had received the honor at that time. In 2024, Angiolillo was selected as the first Jacksonville faculty member to be named as a UF Distinguished Professor.

In his career, he has made significant contributions to research, authoring more than 650 peer-reviewed articles with more than 60,000 citations. Internationally recognized for his work, his greatest recognition has come for his contributions in the field of thrombosis, or clots that form inside blood vessels. Angiolillo frequently lectures abroad, particularly on antithrombotic therapy in patients with cardiovascular disease.

Angiolillo is an active member of many cardiovascular societies in the U.S. and Europe. He serves on the editorial board of numerous cardiovascular journals and holds leadership roles with some of them. He is a sci-entific reviewer for many major journals and extramural funding agencies, including the National Institutes of Health and other national funding agencies in several European countries.
